HELP Pregnant mummy supplements compulsory ?

Gynae gave me multi vitamin pills, calcium tablets and fish oil as daily pregnancy supplements to take. But it’s really hard to swallow so many big pills every day, is it really a must to take the 2 calcium tablets everyday and other vitamin pills ? Or is it possible to replace it with other food options or possibly there are smaller size of tablets ? I am a really bad at swallowing tablets and pills type of person >

Not really. My new OB is not fond of supplements. She just asks me to eat healthy food, whole foods mostly. Cut my sugar intake and overall, remove junk from my diet. She just prescribed me folic acid. My former OB gave me all sort of stuff and it was nauseating for me. But still, follow your dr’s orders :)

Try pill cutter (can get from watson, guardian). I am bad in swallowing big pills too. So i cut it into 4. For fish oil pill, get some water in your mouth with the pill. The outer layer of the pill will make it smooth to swallow. For the baby, no choice but try to swallow.

Hi, I also don't like swallowing big pills. I tend to get choke or the pills get stucked on my throat which is very painful for me, sometimes I vomit it before. The thing that worked for me was I cut the big pills like calcium into two then take them separately with a lot of water.

im expecting twins so vitamins from the food may not be sufficient as im still having nausea and sometimes appetite is up and down so i take what's prescribed by my gynae like the iron pills, calcium pills, obimin, two tabs for the high blood pressure. total of 6 tabs every day.

I requested for gummy calcium pills because they are really so huge to swallow. Alternatively, you can consider to alternate between maternal milk and calcium pills for your calcium intake :) For my prenatal vitamins, i take it daily and fish oil alternate days! :)

Super Mom

You can drink maternity milk (frisomum, similac, nestle etc). I didn't take any calcium tablet separately, the multivitamins already contain calcium. The multivitamin I took was Prenavit which is quite small and has a sugar coating so maybe you can give that a try?

I am also taking prenatal vits, calcium pill x2, fish oil and duhpaston daily. The fish oil apparently is lemon flavoured but i accidentaly burst it one day and i felt like dying. Very yuck! I am also taking duphaston n asprin every night....

to me no issues. usually i will take the fish oil before work and aft my breakfast i will take my obimin. since i need to break 2 hours in between Calcium & obimin.. so to me isnt an issue. apart fr my constipation medications and Aspirin before bedtime. not to mentioned my Insulin each time before meal and before bed time😊😊

If your OB prescribed them, then maybe needed sya for you and baby. Maybe you can try not taking them all at once? Like 1 tablet every hour or so. Anyway wala naman tight schedule ang vitamins, importante ma kumpleto mo lang lahat in one day

you might consider food to replace. or u may drink mama milk the vitamin in it is sufficient to replace the multivitamin I check with gynae. Is better to take the pill than find foods cos really kind of troublesome.

All the mentioned supplements are very good for both you n your baby... Try to ask your Gynae any other options or advises for you. Some supplements have it in liquid form, maybe you should check with your Gynae.
