New vs Hand-me-down

A FTM here. Just want to know do you prefer everything new for your baby or will you accept hand me downs ie clothes and such?

Most of the stuff I have prepared so far are hand me down. Newborns outgrow clothes so quickly and it's quite expensive to keep buying new clothes every month.
