Newborn face shield

It’s my first baby and covid cases have been high so i’m kind of worry when i give birth… can’t be let newborn baby wear mask so thinking does face shield actually helps to protect? Or any other option?

I guess minimizing contact with strangers is best for now. Avoid crowded places and going out unnecessarily especially when baby is still young. It may be tough to keep a face shield on too..
