Do you teach your child about bullying at this age? Am asking because my son comes home by the school bus and most of them are the older P5 and P6 kids. Am worried that he may be bullied as he is tiny and well, in P1. Not sure if they can understand at this age though or will just give in to the bullying if it happens.

Do other mums feel that CCAs take up too much of our kids' time? They already have 9 subjects to juggle and the 2 CCAs they have to take eat into their afternoons. When will our kids rest?

PSLE gives me the nerves. Although he is just in P5, I have drafted a timetable for my son to follow through over the weekend (and after school, in the evenings). I wonder if any other parents are doing the same like me? Or am I starting to worry and push him too soon?

Which English assessment books are good for training for PSLE? The school is already giving them exam papers from other schools so I'm not doing that with him.

A mum told me this- Children in secondary school should learn to study on their own instead of going for tuition. If they have problem with any subject, they should approach their teacher or organise study groups with their classmates. This will help them learn to solve their own problems, not just in school, but in life. What do other parents think? Please share!

Children have tuition for 2 reasons. 1. They need help to catch up with their peers 2. To re-enforce what was being taught in school. Sometimes their friends might not be able to clarify their queries and might confuse them even further. Most of the time, teachers are not able to give their students one to one attention and accommodate to the child's learning pace while private tutors can. Therefore depending on your child, tuition may or may not be necessary.
