I'd like my 3yo toddler to pick up interest in her Mother tongue, Chinese. Should I continue have faith in her childcare's Chinese curriculum or try another additional enrichment? I heard Berries is good in inculcating Chinese.

Do you speak Mandarin with him at home? For me, I speak Mandarin to my kids at home and in fact I insist my kids to speak Mandarin at home. For my girl she is in K2 now and her Chinese is very strong as in recognise words easily and know all her HYPY already. I just bought a HYPY sound chart for her and she learns from there herself. Also, I try my best to borrow chinese story books from library for her other than English story book. If you wish to send him to Chinese Enrichment, Berries and Tien Xia is recommended. Comparing the feedback from my friends, Tien Xia is better to prepare kids for primary school while Berries is fun to instil interest in the chinese language.

Any of your LO in MMI (Bukit Batok) playgroup? Any reviews about the environment, syllabus and teachers?

This is the feedback given by my friend who sends her kid there since N1: "The standard varies over the years. My LO has been there for 3 years. It really boils down to luck on the principal n teacher your LO get. The current P is not bad. But I cannot say that of all the teachers in the centre. The previous 2 Ps didn't do a good job in ensuring good standard n along w high turn over of staff. So I find my LO below par to those in MOE kiddy. I feel that u have a better deal w ur LO in MOE kiddy. The only reason why I have yet to transfer my LO to moe kiddy is that I need a full time CC n LO current teacher is good. The curriculum looks good. No doubt. But in terms of preparing for P1, reading n writing is no good."

My beloved 3 years old niece was seen crossing the road outside the school alone after school ended and one of the student's father was alerted by a lady at the roadside to save her. He then returned her to the school. My sister was only 10 minutes late to fetch her and this happened within that time! The teacher merely just apologized but i find this matter really grave! What would you do?

Have you tried checking the national library board for a copy? Also check kinokuniya for it. You can also try one of the novelty stores like Niise or the collective effort - I vividly remember seeing local books being sold.

I think it would be in the university level. It is at the age where they are most independent and would be able to see and gain experiences.
