Baby head down & engaged at week 34.

hi! ive been advised by my gynae that my baby's head is down and engaged at week 34.5, with a slightly shorter than expected cervix length too. i am currently on bed rest now, except when peeing, pooping, showering and eating. im also taking utrogestan vaginally. would like to see if there are other mummies in a similar situation as me and baby managed to stay inside till after week 38? 😀 also, any other tips for me? thank you!

Oh goodness, I really feel you on this, being on bed rest at 34 weeks with so much uncertainty must be so stressful, but you're doing all the right things and that already counts for so much. From what I've heard, quite a few mums in similar situations with short cervix and vaginal progesterone (same as your Utrogestan) did manage to hold on till 37, 38 weeks, so it is very much possible! One thing I've come across is the Trendelenburg position, basically lying with your feet slightly elevated above your head, which some mums found helpful to take the pressure off the cervix during bed rest. A friend of mine who had a similar situation also said staying really well hydrated made a difference, as dehydration can sometimes trigger contractions. Hang in there, you're doing amazingly, but do run any of these tips by your gynae first since every pregnancy is different!

chlorpheniramine for flu during pregnant

Im currently in 2nd. Ive been having runny nose (and bad cough) for more than a week. Went to guardian pharmacy and they gave me chlorpheniramine, saying its safe for pregnancy. Anyone has taken it before ? Still contemplating but i doubt my flu will go on its own without medication. #firstpreganancy

1 echogenic focus in left ventricle of heart

I just went for my 20 week detailed scan and doc told me theres 1 shadow/spot in my baby’s left ventricle heart (normal variant), however doc told me its very common since its just 1 and nothing much to worry about. As a first time mum, ill always worry about everything even when doc say its nothing to be worried about. Any mummies had this ? #firstpregnancy

Im coming to 6 months post-partum, and i just found out that im pregnant again. My first (previous) pregnancy wasn't a smooth sailing one. I need to eat medications for almost 8 months, as my morning sickness was very bad. (The medication makes me sleep alot.) So what bothering me.. • Im afraid that with this pregnancy, i will neglect my firstborn. • I have no idea how to break this news to my husband. • I don't know how to tell my parents & inlaws about it. • What would others think of me getting pregnant again when my firstborn is coming to 6 months. • I've yet to go for th contraceptive consultation, which is next week and here am i preggy. (Jokes on me) Help me out, mummies! I'm not as excited as i am when i got to know i conceived the first time.

Week 40, wait or to induce?

I’m week 40 today & baby is weighing est 3.4kg! I’m given the option to wait / to induce. How did you mummies decide on which route to take? And can you share your experience?

You can choose to wait if you can endure. Alternatively to induce. However, your pain tolerance level has to be high as induce is painful esp when contractions kicks in. Induce can be very long if you are not dilating. Hence, you will also need other birth plan in mind if it is taking too long. Example: c section, birth assisted delivery like forceps, vacuum suction. This is to make sure you are well prep in mind and despite whatever happened you know what you want. Based on my experience, first child I hold pregnancy for extra 1 week and only induce at 41 weeks before giving birth next day.

Pprom water bag leak at 15 week

Hi, just want to share anyone had a leak so early in pregnancy and went on to have a smooth pregnancy. Is anyone on bedrest also? Care to share more. Anxious and upset.

Oh mama, sending you so much strength right now, this must be such a scary and uncertain time for you. From what I've generally heard, PPROM at 15 weeks is really serious and the path forward can go quite a few different ways, some mums do manage to extend the pregnancy significantly with close monitoring, while others unfortunately deliver within a week of the leak, so the range of outcomes is wide and honestly hard to predict. One thing that came up quite a bit is that bedrest sounds like the obvious thing to do, but apparently there isn't strong evidence it actually prolongs things, and being completely immobile for a long time can bring its own problems for your body, so it's worth having a very honest conversation with your O&G about what level of activity is actually recommended for your specific situation. The infection risk is also something to keep a close eye on, since once the membranes are open, bacteria can travel up, so monitoring for any signs of fever or changes in discharge is really important. At 15 weeks, the baby is still making amniotic fluid, so some do partially replenish, but it really does depend on how much is leaking and how your body responds, please do lean heavily on your doctor or specialist to guide you, because every case genuinely differs and they'll know your situation best.

Review on SGH for delivery and Dr Devendra

Anyone could share your experience of delivering at SGH eg how are the nurses and post birth care, are they pro- natural? Also keen to know experience of delivering with Dr Devendra from Sgh. Is he pro- natural and willing to give HL when needed. #advicepls #FTM #firstpreganancy #firsttimemom

I gave birth naturally to my first one in SGH 3 years ago. Nurses and midwives were very attentive and caring from what I recall. Post-birth, the nurses in the ward constantly checked up on me. They even helped me to the bathroom when I couldn’t walk properly due to the pain from episiotomy stitches. Currently 39 weeks pregnant with my 2nd one and been seeing Dr Dev since I was 30 weeks after switching to private. He’s really caring and listens to any concerns you may have. My baby was breech from the start when I saw him, and at 37 weeks he offered to do an ECV for me - so I could have a chance at natural birth again, but I declined. I decided to give my baby time to turn herself head down instead. Because of that, we had to pick a date for an elective C-Sec just in case baby doesn’t eventually turn. Was meant to have the elective C-Sec yesterday, but thankfully my baby turned and we were able to cancel that and now waiting for labour to start spontaneously. As for HL, he’s been giving me HL since I was about 36 weeks but 7 days at a time. Told him I needed to rest since my job requires me to walk around quite a bit. I hope this helps!

10 weeks and having diarrhoea

This is my second pregnancy. And im having diarrhoea and vomiting. Called the clinic, and they say just go normal GP. Is it normal to have diarrhoea for 4 days?#pleasehelp #advicepls

Seek the GP soon if you are already having a 4 days diarrhoea and if they ask to go A&E then you proceed.
