Which type of doctor should I consult in Singapore for hammer toes or claw toes? I’m looking for someone who specialises in foot and ankle problems and can advise whether conservative treatment or surgery is more appropriate.

i’d recommend seeing a foot specialist for hammer or claw toes, especially if there’s pain or difficulty walking. i had a painful, stiff claw toe, and Dr Yung Shing Wai diagnosed it and performed corrective surgery. i came across him while looking for a top foot surgeon in Singapore, and my walking improved after recovery. i’m really thankful for the care i received.👌

When should you get tested for colorectal cancer?

I’m in my 40s and recently started wondering whether I should be screened for colorectal cancer. I don’t have any major symptoms, but there is a history of bowel problems in my family, which has made me a little concerned. For those who have gone through screening, what made you decide to see a doctor, and what kind of tests did they recommend?

I would not wait until symptoms become severe, especially since we have a similar experience with a family history. When I started having changes in my bowel movements and some bleeding, I saw Dr Chew Min Hoe, who arranged a colonoscopy as part of my check for colorectal cancer in Singapore. He found and removed a polyp during the procedure. If you have a family history or notice changes in your bowel habits, I would strongly recommend speaking to a doctor and getting checked.☺️

Mummies out there! Just curious, have anyone of u ever abort baby before? Im feeling very dilemma as I dont think im ready to have a 3rd child.. :( but at the same time, I do feel guilt for not wanting when it's a blessing..

I have the same dilemma as well!!! And this 3rd child was unplanned. Didn’t know I will ovulate early and this happens… I have the same thoughts as you that it’s a blessing but now coping with 2 active toddlers is very very challenging. 😥

Flat feet problem...

Do my flat feet require treatment like custom orthotics, or are they a harmless variation, and how can I tell if my arch flattening is causing my foot, ankle, or leg pain?

Honestly, flat feet can go either way - some people have them their whole life with zero issues, while others do get foot or ankle pain that gets worse over time. The thing is, you can't really tell on your own whether yours will cause problems or if the pain you're feeling is actually from the flat feet or something else entirely. I'd say it's worth bringing it up with your doctor or PD just to get them to assess whether your arches are affecting how you walk or putting strain on your ankles and legs, because that's when orthotics might actually help. In the meantime, if you're getting pain, see if it eases with rest or if certain shoes make it better or worse - that can give your doctor useful info too.

Heel pain from being on my feet all day?

I thought my sore heels were just because I'm tired, but the pain has been going on for a while now. It's worse in the morning and after a long day of walking. What did you mums do when you experienced something similar?

Heel pain that's worse in the morning is often plantar fasciitis, especially if you're on your feet a lot during the day. I had something similar and found that stretching my calves first thing when I wake up, wearing supportive shoes, and taking breaks to rest really helped, but it took a few weeks to improve. Might be good to bring it up with your doctor or polyclinic just to make sure, especially if it's affecting your daily routine or getting worse.

Is subchondroplasty suitable for knee pain from a bone marrow lesion?

I've been having knee pain for quite some time, and my MRI showed a bone marrow lesion. My doctor mentioned something called subchondroplasty, but I don't know much about it. Has anyone had this procedure before, and what was the recovery like?

I think it can be suitable for some people, depending on the MRI findings and the cause of the knee pain. I had swelling, a deep aching pain, and discomfort when putting weight on my knee, especially when walking and going up stairs. My MRI showed a bone marrow lesion, and Dr Cheng Chusheng performed subchondroplasty after assessing my knee. Recovery was gradual, but I slowly became more comfortable with daily activities. He has been our go-to ortho doctor for knee problems, and I would definitely consider him if you are looking for an orthoapedic surgeon in Singapore.😊
