Hi mummies.. I've just given birth three days ago on Mothers day. Baby is day two now. I have a question. I decided to direct latch feed on demand for my baby however baby is demanding for milk every hour which makes my MIL and confinement nanny and my hubby thinks I don't have enough milk to satisfy baby and insist I pump out and bottle feed my baby. Baby was fine from breastfeeding in the hospital latching an hour (30 mins each side) and self detach latch after satisfied and comes back for milk after every three hours. But after reaching home baby starts to cry for milk every 2hrs then 1hr. What should I do?

It's normal for the demand. Try to pump regularly for storage, the more you pump the more supply you will have.

My LO is a mth plus and I'm feeding her ebm i dont latch. Firstly, i keep getting this tingling shooting pain in my breasts before/after pumping.. i read that it is the let down reflux? but it's quite uncomfortable and slightly painful. secondly, every time i pump i only get 130-150ml for both sides.. i feel my supply is getting lesser. I pump at least every 3h and sometimes dont pump for MAX 10hrs, every session is about 10mins on each breast. thirdly, I've thought of stopping my milk production due to the discomfort etc. I'm still fighting about this as i feel extremely guilty if i stop fully. I'm in such a dilemma as im not sure if my LO can get the nutrients, good benefits from formula. i know a lot mummies will encourage to continue breastfeeding but i need some opinions

Hi mummy, Yes the tingling sensation is probably letdown reflex. It should be fine if it's only slightly painful. 130-150ml every 3 hours is not too little, I'd say it's normal. I get about the same amount. However try not to go so long without pumping - I'd say 5 hours max if you'd like to keep the supply up. Please don't feel guilty if you're really tired and want to give up. Most importantly you should feel strong and be there for the baby. I feel exclusive pumping is much harder and more tiring than direct latching, so if direct latching is really not an option then just go for formula. Nutrient wise there shouldn't be a big difference between breastmilk and formula.

Recently i notice that my bm is getting lesser and lesser and ive been drinking homemade ice lemon tea that u could get at the kopi shop out there. Does it actually affect my bm ?

It could be. Tea also contains caffeine so you might wanna cut back on that.

Besides cabbage. What other food reduces milk supply?

Take Sage either in tea or bottled droplets to add in your beverage which is proven to help. Can also buy those “No more milk teas” to reduce supply. But it will still take some time depending on how long you’ve been breastfeeding. The longer you’ve been breastfeeding the longer it takes for supply to stop.

Leaky Boob On One Side

When I feed baby with my right boob, my left boob will always let down a lot of milk. But when I feed on my left, my right boob never leaks. Any mummy has the same condition, is it strange?

Hi mummies, I am planning to feed FM, as my BM is not coming in as quick. What FM brand would you recommend for a newborn? I hope it doesnt confuse baby with the various taste? TIA.

Hi... you can request samples from Similac and NAN. Both formula milk are closest to BM. Let your LO try and buy the brand your baby prefers.

I'm feeding my lo EBM since she was out of the hospital n had very bad engorgement a few times. now I'm pumping after 4-6hours and now i can get at most a 190ml both sides in total! is it normal? I've been pumping for about a month now.

Baby not feeding enough

my wife is pumping breast milk out to feed the baby, according to the baby's weight, the baby should be drinking about 80 to 90ml. The baby now is drinking only 60 to 70ml and wakes up more often during day time. In the night time, the baby also drinks about 60 to 70ml. what should I do? thank you

Don't have to follow the guide strictly. Every baby is different.. As long as baby is growing well, it's fine.

Confinement food

Hello mummies! I'm a first time mom. 39 week now and my mom will be cooking for me when baby arrives. According to her friends they cook meals without salt and sugar, may I know if it's true for all? If not, do you've a list of dishes to prepare for week 1 -4 pls? She insists no water allowed just red dates water even though my body's heaty or begin with ?‍♀️ this is gg to be tough! Any advice pls?

my lo is turning 1mth this Sunday. she usually drinks 110 - 125ml of ebm. but sometimes it isnt enough for her, so I'm trying to feed 140ml but she keeps spit up despite burping n sitting her up straight for awhile. is it bc is too much for her? am i over feeding? she drinks every 2h-3h.
