Congrats on your upcoming arrival! Both are solid pumps honestly, so it really comes down to what matters most to you, the Spectra Dual Compact tends to get good marks for its closed tubing system (more hygienic, easier to clean) and it's generally considered efficient for output, while the Medela Swing Maxi has that familiar, well-trusted name and some mums find the suction style suits them better. That said, a friend of mine who used the Swing Maxi felt the output was pretty comparable to even hospital-grade Medela pumps, so it holds its own. Where things get a bit divided is suction strength, some feel the Spectra's max level isn't as powerful as Medela, so if you're someone who needs stronger suction to get a good letdown, that's worth factoring in. My lean would be the Spectra Dual Compact for the hygiene and efficiency edge, but both are genuinely good choices, no wrong answer here!

Stop BM but feel full and engorged

Tried to stop BM by drag the pumping session but then my breasts feel so full and there is even lump. So had to compress w warm water and use haakaa milk collector. Didnt pump for 2 days already. Anyone have recommendation on how to stop the bm fast? I have to take care of my bb alone and with breastfeeding it is tiring. I know can get med from gynae but heard from my friend i will still feel engorged. Can anyone guide me please.. thank you

please do try to pump even though weaning, reduce the pump frequency and sessions. have to request for medication if you want fast. don’t risk the chance of getting mastitis.

Is this colostrum ?

Hi mummies im 39w and will be induced on 40w cause baby too comfortable inside, no dilation yet. Baby is in good size and weight, and no complication in pregnancy. I actually tried to use hakaa breastpump in hoping to stimulate my nipple to avoid induce and hopefully itll trigger labor. After 15 mins of using, theres a drop of what seems like a yellowish residue on my nipple on one side only. Is this colostrum? #firsttimemom

Yes, that yellowish sticky drop sounds like colostrum, totally normal at 39 weeks, and actually a good sign your body is preparing for baby! It starts out quite thick and golden, and some mums find only one side produces at first, so no need to worry about that. On the nipple stimulation side, it is a bit of a mixed picture, some mums do find it helps things along, but the general advice seems to be not to overdo the pumping sessions, since there is a difference between gentle stimulation and prolonged pumping that could cause stronger contractions than expected. Since you already have an induction date scheduled and no dilation yet, it might be worth checking with your gynae or midwife first before continuing, just so they can advise how long and how often is safe for your specific situation.

in help with biting nipple while breastfeeding

hi all , i really need help. my lil one love biting my nipple while breastfeeding any suggestions how to make them stop biting my nipple. i would give my lil one formula but she has refuse bottle since she’s newborn #pleasehelp

Oh, I totally feel you, that biting stage is so painful and stressful, especially when your baby won't take a bottle! A few things that seemed to help mums I know: first, stay calm when it happens (hard, I know!) and gently unlatch her with your finger straight away, then offer a teething toy instead so she learns biting leads to the end of the feed, not more breast. My neighbour also mentioned keeping the nipple area clean with diluted saltwater if the skin breaks, since broken skin can get infected or lead to thrush, which makes everything worse. Some mums found that reducing distractions during feeds helped a lot too, biting sometimes happens when baby is distracted or just not that hungry anymore, so staying engaged with eye contact can keep her focused on feeding properly rather than treating it like a game. That said, it's really worth checking with a lactation consultant or your PD just to make sure the latch is right and to rule out anything else going on, they can give advice tailored to your little one.

Dostinex to stop BM

Anyone is on dostinex? Do you pump to relieve engorgement after taking the first second dose? When will the breast milk stop producing and if i really have to pump to relieve engorgement?

I have taken Dostinex before as I am not breastfeeding. It works fast for me and doctor only prescribed 2 tablets for me, take half of each tablet per dosage. I suggest you pump out the extra milk before and after taking Dostinex.
