Covid during week 12 preggie

Any tips? Or anything that I need to prepare for baby? :(

I just recovered from influenza A and I was 12 going 13 weeks preggie. I fell sick with the flu with my first pregnancy at 18 weeks too and was admitted to KKH due to persistent high fever. All praise to God, baby was fine during the flu virus. Just look after yourself. Ensure plenty of hydration. Find any drinks that suit you except coffee and tea. I personally found Pocari sweat and fruit juices more satisfying than water. Regular Panadol ONLY to break fever. ALSO, just see a GP/gynae if your symptoms persists. I went to GP first for meds and they know to provide pregnancy safe meds.

Lower back cramping/aching.

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and experiencing lower back cramping/aching. Is it normal? The last time i had this was during my previous miscarriage. I had this same pain together with bleeding. So far there is no spotting or bleeding. My fetal scan is on coming tuesday & i am so worried.

I can understand why you're worried, mummy, especially since it reminds you of what happened before. Lower back aching or mild cramping can actually be quite common around 12 weeks as your uterus grows and your ligaments start stretching. The reassuring part is that you don't have any spotting or bleeding at the moment. That said, because of your previous miscarriage and the anxiety that comes with it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with calling your gynae if the pain is getting stronger or if you need reassurance before Tuesday. If you develop bleeding, severe cramps, dizziness, or the pain becomes intense, do get checked sooner. For now, try to rest, stay hydrated, and monitor the symptoms. Many mums experience back aches in the first trimester and go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Hoping Tuesday's scan brings you some peace of mind 🤍

Hi hi has anyone experienced small jelly-like blob of brown mucus discharge at around 11-12 weeks and is it normal ?

Yup, normal. Brown discharge can sometimes happen in early pregnancy and is often just old blood making its way out, especially around 11-12 weeks. A small jelly-like blob could also be mixed with normal pregnancy discharge. If it stays light and brown and you’re not having cramps or heavy bleeding, it’s usually less concerning. But if you start getting bright red bleeding, stronger cramps, dizziness, or the discharge becomes heavier, do contact your doctor or go to A&E for advice. If you're worried, no harm giving your gynae a quick call too for peace of mind ❤️

NIPT - Harmony vs Panorama

Hi mummies, Wanted to see if anyone has advice on which NIPT test to take? Based on what my clinic is offering, Panorama is more comprehensive and offers a few more test like Jacobsen and Angelman. Other than that, wondering if there are any meaningful difference between Harmony vs Panorama? Thanks!

I went with panorama. Think a lot depends on your gestational age. Are you an older mum to be? Or are you below 35?

You can check out plans like Prudential PRUMum, AIA Mum2Baby Choices but my friend says it is best to speak to a few agents first because coverage for mummy vs baby can vary a lot. Hope you find one that gives you peace of mind mama!

My first HCG when I was 5weeks plus was 891+ after 2 days it was 1400++, my gyne said it was only going up 57% not a ideal rate. I'm so worried and scared. My appointment is tmr. And I don't know what to expect. Is it really that bad 😢 #askmommies

I’d try not to panic yet 🤍 A 57% rise in 48 hours isn’t textbook “doubling,” but it’s still an increase and can be within a normal range early on. HCG trends can vary a lot between pregnancies. Your doc will likely repeat bloods and/or do a scan to get a clearer picture. Many mums have had slower rises and still gone on to have healthy pregnancies. Take it one step at a time. tomorrow’s appointment will give you more answers. Sending you calm vibes 💛

Chemical pregnancy?

I first tested on 14 DPO using clearblue ultra early pregnancy test kit - it shows positive, but not super dark. Then today 16 DPO i tested using guardian test strip. Still faint positive. Could this be chemical pregnancy?
