Birth process at hospital

Hi Everyone, FTM here. May I ask how the actual process of getting to hospital etc works? I understand we need to register at the hospital before for hassle free admission.. but what happens on D day? What if baby decides to come before or after the due date.. does the hospital call the gynee themselves? Thanks

Not sure how other hospitals works, mine is TMC and overdue baby. Induced due to low fluid. Below is for the “not so urgent” kind. Gynae gives admission timing and date for you to admit. I went up to labour ward for CTG scan as well as prepare for induce. I’ll skip the procedures and all. Yes, hospital will call your gynae. You don’t need to do anything else, just admit, lie down and wait. Husband will do the admission for you.

Anyone purchase AXA Happy Mummy insurance conceived thru IVF? Any AXA agent to intro?

Yes me. I got the happy mummy bundle premium through IG @moneymakcik Fitria. One-off premium of abt $400 (this is for IVF pregnancies but I think it depends on a lot of other factors eg age so do check). This is up to 3 years and if you don’t use it, it’ll be burnt (to me this is ok cos means nothing medically wrong happened to me or baby!). N I’m tying it up with term insurance for baby too.

Is 4th vaccination safe for pregnancy mom after 25 weeks ?

4th booster can be taken after giving birth. As long as you have the mandatory 3 vaccine you can await for the 4th period. I did ask doctor during consultation and therefore postpone it. Having said that if they ask you take flu/cough vaccine you can proceed with that. This is to avoid your wife from falling sick often.

Hi mummies, I’m having dry cough which leads to lack of sleep at night. I only manage to sleep 2-3hours max cause i couldnt stop coughing. I tried drinking honey lemon water constantly but it doesnt really help at night. I went to the GP last week, the doctor gave me a cough suppressant meds & it doesnt work too. what should I do :( i’m trying to stay sane due to lack of sleep. please help. Thank you

Drink plenty of water with lemon or chamomile tea, get prospan cough syrup instead, put a vicks at ur back, throat and lay sleep side ways.

Thy pain & between legs pain

I’m now 6month pregnant I’m suffering a lot with the pain in thys & between the legs. Is it normal?

Hi mum, I had this around second trimester also and it can happen because the pelvis joints and ligaments loosen during pregnancy, so pain in the thighs and between the legs is quite common. It can feel worse when walking, turning in bed or standing for long. But if the pain is very strong, affects your walking, or keeps getting worse, I think it’s good to let your gynae know because they can check for things like pelvic girdle pain and suggest safer ways to manage it. Gentle rest and avoiding too much strain usually helped me a bit.

cramping at 6 months

hi mum,i have cramping at lower abdomen and currently pregnant at 6 weeks.do u experience somthing like this too?

hi . anybody have fibroid during pregnancy and feel sharp pain? any solution on this

Hi mum, I had friends who had fibroids during pregnancy and some of them did mention getting sharp pain at certain stages, especially when the uterus is growing and things are stretching. It can feel quite scary because the pain can come suddenly and be quite uncomfortable. But because pain in pregnancy can mean different things, I wouldn’t assume it’s only the fibroid especially if the pain is strong, keeps coming back, or comes with bleeding or contractions. Better to let your gynae know and get checked so you have peace of mind and proper advice for your case.

Anyone drink 1 coffee during 24 week . What happen when baby come out ? Turn dark? Get weak?

Coffee once a day

Nothing will happened to baby's skin tone. It is just a myth. But drink in moderation for coffee. Alternate days of coffee or when needed.

Enquiring on kkh gynae

Has anyone seen Dr. Ho Weng Yan from KKH? When called in, was assigned to her. Could anyone share the experience with her and her helping in natural delivery / c-sect?

Hmm, I don't have much direct experience to share about Dr Ho Weng Yan specifically for deliveries, from what I've gathered, she seems to be more on the gynae oncology side rather than a dedicated obstetrics specialist, so it's worth checking with KKH whether she actively handles natural deliveries and C-sections regularly. That said, she does seem well-qualified (MRCOG from the UK) and comes across as someone who genuinely cares about her patients. A friend of mine mentioned that at KKH, even if you're assigned a specific doctor, the on-call team often manages the actual delivery, so your assigned gynae may not always be the one present when it counts, something to clarify upfront so you know what to expect.
