Risk of Pre-Eclampsia and Small Baby

This is my first pregnancy. I just got back my blood test results from the scan during week 12. I am below 30, but opted to do the NIPT Testing just to be sure. Baby shows low risk of everything for chromosomal testing (21,18,13,X and other sexual chromosomal abnormalities), NT (Neck Measurement) was well within normal range. My BP has also been measuring well within the 115-120 / 74-80 range. But my PPAP-A is extremely low which can mean 2 things: weak placenta (higher risk of pre-eclampsia and small baby) or a chance of baby having chromosomal abnormality (atypical neuploidies, Gynae said about 2% chance?). Anyone has been through this exact experience and how was your experience? Was baby born fine? Did you end up developing pre-eclampsia? How long did pre-eclampsia take to clear? I have been prescribed aspirin to start and have been taking for 2 days but i am extremely worried about baby's wellbeing and also the risks of getting pre-eclampsia.

Has anyone given birth at NUHS before?

First time mom here, I was referred to NUHS after my initial appointment at the polyclinic instead of KKH. Does anyone have any experience with the process there?

Hi! I haven't personally delivered at NUHS, but I've heard quite a bit from mums around me who have, generally very positive feedback on the experience. Most mentioned minimal waiting times and that the staff were really attentive, which is reassuring for a first-timer like you. A few also raved about the postnatal care side of things, including things like massage, which helped with recovery. The main thing I'd say is just clarify with your gynae upfront what's covered under your plan (especially if you're going private vs subsidised) so there are no surprises on the bill later, that's something a couple of mums I know wish they'd asked about earlier. Otherwise, you're in good hands; NUHS has a solid reputation for maternal and newborn care. All the best with your delivery!

NUH - Private Route

I was thinking of switching to private route on 35 weeks but I will like to know the price difference and if it is worth it?

I get why you're thinking about this at 35 weeks, it's a big call to make so late in pregnancy. From what I hear, the private route at NUH runs around $14k, though it can vary a bit depending on your delivery type and any complications. Someone I know switched over at 32 weeks from subsidised care and felt it was worth it mainly for the flexibility with consultants and shorter wait times during labour, but honestly, at 35 weeks you're quite far along, so it might be worth checking directly with NUH to see if there are any admin or clinical hiccups with switching this late, plus you'd want to understand exactly what's included in that price so there are no surprise charges after delivery. The real question is whether the perks matter most to you right now, or if you're happy enough with your current arrangement and just want a bit more certainty at the end. What's driving the switch for you?

Is it normal to have indigestion/heartburn?

Lately I've been feeling heartburn, hours after my meals. Is this normal?

Heartburn in pregnancy is super common, especially as your baby gets bigger and puts pressure on your stomach, but it can also happen if you're eating heavier meals or lying down too soon after eating. Might be worth mentioning to your PD or gynae at your next visit just to rule out anything else, but in the meantime try eating smaller meals, avoiding greasy or spicy foods, and staying upright for a bit after you eat.

How to handle morning sickness

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and having really bad morning sickness and i cant even eat food or certain drinks. I feel nausea throughout the whole day everyday and have a hard time eating because i will vomit out. Anyone experiencing the same as me what do you guys do to help ease the morning sickness please i feel like i cant go on anymore😭

I have been drinking so much ginger water! and just trying to rest alot

It's gone. I have lost my pregnancy.

I have lost my pregnancy. Its one of the most painful experience in my life today. I don't know how to heal or recover from this. But I hope I will. Sending my love to all the mamas who have gone through this. Or going.

What should I do next?

Hi mummies, this is my first time getting pregnant and I dont know what to do. It says on the app that im 5 weeks in, and I took the home kit test twice - it shows positive. Do I go poly and tell them I wanna get a blood test or smth? Or GP only does it? If theres like a map/timeline of what to do, when to do what, it would be really helpful huhu >_

Congrats on your pregnancy! You can go to either your polyclinic or GP for a blood test to confirm, both will do it no problem. I'd suggest polyclinic first since it's usually faster and cheaper, just tell them you've got a positive home test and want confirmation. After that they'll refer you to KKH or your chosen hospital for your first scan around 8-12 weeks, and they'll give you a proper timeline then for all your appointments and checkups ahead. Don't worry, once you start the system they make it pretty straightforward with dates and what to expect at each stage.

Why KKH don’t play sound for heartbeat.. any nurse can share why this protocol?

Went for dating scan in KKH and the nurse said it’s KKH protocol to not play the sound. But just show the flickering heartbeat.. why so?

I think it's a safety thing lah, they want to limit unnecessary ultrasound exposure, especially in early pregnancy when you're just confirming dates and viability. Some hospitals are stricter about this than others, but KKH's approach is basically "we show you it's there, that's what matters" rather than adding extra time for the audio. My friend went there for her dating scan too and had the same experience, so it does seem to be their standard practice rather than anything to worry about.

Is it possible?

I took 3 preggy test... First said positive then second said negative then lastly said positive... All is digital test. Went to the doctor and he said not pregnant and he said it may be too early to detect.. Do you think I could be pregnant or not pregnant? P. S. The digital test states "pregnant 1-2"

How many weeks are you? The best way is to take a blood test to test for your beta hcg hormone. This is the same hormone that home kit tests but home kit would not tell you the level of beta hcg(ie the number). Most home kit are have a sensitivity of 25, so if you are borderline this level it will show faint lines only Non pregnant people typically do not have this hormone, but a blood test will tell u the exact number

After vaginal ultra sound, no sac found... had heavy bleeding too. Anyone exp this? Week5

It would have most likely been an etopic pregnancy. Did you consult your gynae on the bleeding
