Gynae recommendation for Thomson Medical Centre

Hi, I am new here. I would like to get recommendation for Gynae for TMC. I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant & still looking for a gynae.

Diarrhea and itchy vulva at 37 wks pregnant

Currently starting to have loose bowel everyday and my vulva is kinda itchy but not so severe. Is there any home remedy that i can depend on or should i consult gynae again? Should i be concern or is this normal as nearing to labour? I just had my doc's appt recently last Monday.

At 37 weeks, loose stools can sometimes be the body's way of preparing for labour, but the itchy vulva on top of that is worth flagging to your gynae rather than waiting for the next scheduled visit, since it could be a yeast infection or something else that needs proper treatment. I would not rely on home remedies for these two things together at this stage of pregnancy, just to be on the safe side. Most clinics are fine with you calling in between appointments to check if something needs earlier attention, so it is worth giving them a ring and describing both symptoms. Better to get a proper assessment than to guess, especially since you are so close to your due date.

Is it safe to eat longan fruit? I'm 34 weeks 2 days pregnant

I rmb eating them while pregnant, in moderation and I was quite conscious on monitoring my blood sugar.

Kk delivery subsidy

I just wanted to check with mummies who underwent delivery at kk for subsidy, when you managed to do a normal delivery was the stitches okay? I heard from someone their stitches weren’t sewn proper 🥴

It was okay for me. I had stitches for my 1st born as a subsidy patient in KKH but that was 10 years ago 🫠😅 Theres no harm requesting a doctor to do it for you instead of a medical student even if you are in subsidy 😁

I’ve had incontinence since my first birth 7 years ago. I pee whenever i sneeze & cough. Now that i’m 35weeks pregnant with number 2, i feel its been getting worse to the extent that some pee comes out as i walk & i don’t know how to stop it. 1) I’m worried it might be amniotic liquid but not sure. My appointment is on 20 Feb which is still some time away. 2) seeking genuine results proven solutions to recover my pelvic health for long term. Any advise?

For your first concern, since you are unsure whether it is urine or amniotic fluid leaking, I would not wait until the 20th February appointment as amniotic fluid leaking does need to be checked sooner rather than later, so it is worth calling your gynae or heading to KKH to get it assessed early just to be safe. For the longer term pelvic floor issue, a lot of mums find that working with a women's health physiotherapist after delivery makes a real difference, because they assess you properly and go beyond just the standard Kegel advice to give you a structured recovery plan that addresses your specific situation. It is worth weighing up whether to see a physio versus just doing exercises on your own, since seven years of symptoms suggest your pelvic floor may need more targeted support than self-guided exercises alone. I would raise both concerns with your gynae when you go, so they can refer you to the right specialist after you deliver.

Are Prenatal Classes Necessary?

Hello Mummies & Mummies-to-be, Would like some feedback and thoughts on going for prenatal classes. As I have decided to do confinement solo, I think I would be able to just cope w YouTube tutorials and advise from mummies with kids as my SIL has done it the same way. Can I get some advice and/or success stories as well? Haha would be very encouraging for me. Thanks so much in advance 💓

I did not attend any prenatal class, and I'm also not hiring any confinement nanny too. Doing confinement on my own as well... 🙂

Hospital cost for Mount Alvernia

Would like to check if anyone recently gave birth at Mount Alvernia, 2 bedder? Care to share the estimated cost for giving birth there?

I haven't given birth at Mount Alvernia myself, but from what I've heard from a few mum friends, costs can vary quite a bit depending on your delivery type, how long you stay, and what your gynae charges. It might be worth calling their billing department directly to ask for an estimated breakdown, since natural versus c-section makes a big difference in the final bill. If you have Medishield Life or an integrated shield plan, do check what your insurer covers for private hospital stays, as that can reduce your out-of-pocket quite significantly. Hopefully someone who delivered there recently can share their actual bill lah, that would give you the most realistic picture.

Under-garments (i recommend buying Kotex Overnight Panties, so you dont have to bring or stain your undergarments. Its a panties in pad form) 8. Socks

Hi Mummies, I am advised to have induced labor post 38 weeks due to baby weight. Can i know about the charges for epidural and labor induction in KKH.
