Hello! Any recommendations for good gynaes at NUH besides prof citra and prof su? 😬

Dr Ng Ying Woo is one name that keeps coming up, he's a consultant rather than a senior specialist, but people generally say he's very encouraging and has great bedside manner, which honestly matters a lot during pregnancy. Dr Arundhati Gosavi is another one worth considering; a friend of mine saw her and found her very reassuring with a warm, attentive approach. Dr Stephen (from the O&G team) also gets positive mentions, though I'd say the more senior doctors can sometimes come across as more clinical, so it really depends on whether you prioritise experience or that personal touch. Worth trying to get a first consult with one or two of them to see whose style suits you best before committing.

Sgh down syndrome test how much it cost?

Anyone did down syndrome test at sgh? How much does it cost ?

Hey, so from what I've heard around, SGH's first trimester screening (the OSCAR test) starts from around $149, which is quite reasonable for peace of mind! If you want something more detailed, the NIPT test is a step up in accuracy but the price jumps quite a bit, generally somewhere in the $1,200 to $2,500 range depending on the package. A friend of mine who delivered at SGH mentioned the basic screening felt very affordable, so it's worth checking with their antenatal clinic directly since your Medisave or subsidised status can also affect the final bill. All in all, the OSCAR test is a good starting point if you're looking for something budget-friendly!

Private Gynae for first scan

Hi mummies can anyone recommend me a gynae to go for a first scan visit? I’m currently 5w2d and would like to visit a gynae soon because I’ve had a m/c before and would like to make sure that the pregnancy is viable. My own appointment with NUH is 4 weeks later which I think is quite late for comfort but I’ve been unable to reschedule. TIA!

Any NUH gynaes to recommend please?

Hi mummies, do you know of any NUH gynae that is good with C sect and patient/assuring to an anxiety-disorder mother? Thanks!

From what I've heard, Prof Biswas at NUH is often mentioned as a solid choice for C-sections, someone in my mum group said his work was really clean, like the scar was barely visible after. That said, for anxiety specifically, it's worth asking upfront how a gynae handles nervous patients, because some are more reassuring in their communication style than others, a technically skilled doctor isn't always the most hand-holding type, so those two things don't always come together. Going as a private patient at NUH gives you more say in who you see consistently throughout your pregnancy, which might help with your anxiety since you're building a relationship with one doctor rather than seeing whoever is on duty. I'd suggest calling the clinic and even asking the receptionist whether the doctor is known for being patient and thorough with anxious mums, sometimes that one question tells you a lot.
