Oh dear, hang in there, first-time mum with a sick toddler is really stressful, especially when the medicine doesn't seem to be working. Someone in my mum group mentioned that the key signs to watch for are whether your little one is getting dehydrated, so check if she has dry lips, no tears when crying, or hasn't had a wet diaper in 6 hours or more, because at 14 months they can go downhill quite fast. If the fever has been going on more than 48 hours and she still can't keep anything down despite the anti-vomiting medicine, that's usually when most mums feel it's safer to just head to the A&E rather than wait another day, better to be checked and sent home than to delay. Some mums feel the GP is enough for mild cases, but when medicine isn't helping at all, a paediatrician at the hospital can assess properly and may put her on a drip if she's dehydrated. Trust your gut, you know your child best, and if she looks lethargic or just "not right," don't hesitate to bring her in. Do check with your paediatrician or A&E doctor directly though, as they can give the most accurate advice for her specific condition.
