why does legs pain too much during second trimester of pregnancy??

My thighs hurt alot since first trimester. Can't stand or walk for long. My gynae said it's normal. Baby is growing & therefore the weight is pressing on our sciatic nerves. I get my husband to massage my thights lightly, somehow it feels better.
