Ectopic Pregnancy

At which week is the earliest we can detect an Ectopic pregnancy without going through surgery route? Or at which week is it too late to go for methrotrexate option? Thanks!

Ah, this is such an important question, glad you're asking early! From what I've heard, doctors can usually detect an ectopic pregnancy as early as 4 to 6 weeks through a combination of transvaginal ultrasound and serial beta-hCG blood tests, so you don't necessarily need to wait long before they have a clearer picture. Someone in my mum group shared that her ectopic was caught at 5 weeks and she was treated successfully with methotrexate, her betas were tracked closely and once they climbed past a certain level (hers was around 1,300), the doctors moved quickly with the injection. For methotrexate to remain an option, most doctors here prefer to act before the hCG levels get too high or before there are signs of rupture, so the earlier you catch it, the better your chances of avoiding surgery. Do still check with your O&G specialist though, as each case is really different and they'll assess based on your specific hCG trend and scan findings, please don't wait if you're having pain or heavy bleeding!

Please go see your gynae or A&E right away, as ectopic pregnancy can become a medical emergency very quickly. This is really one question that needs a proper doctor to assess based on your specific situation, not something we should guess at online.
