Super Mom

Hi Alfred, That’s an excellent question. You need to help support mama, provide that safe environment for her. Oxytocin helps with contractions and it flows when mama feels that she’s supported, safe and loved. She needs someone to advocate for her - if she doesn’t wish to be checked unnecessarily or she needs her birth space to be kept sacred, you need to help do that for her. Give her words of encouragement and affirmation. Wipe her face with a cool towel every now and then, provide her with water when she needs it or juice if she asks and snacks when she’s hungry as labour and birth is equivalent to running a full marathon. Massage her feet and her hands… But of course the most important thing is - to be there for her and hold space for your family so that you can welcome your little one into the world!!! And I’ll cheekily say this - if you need a helping hand and some support, you should hire a doula :)
