Sciatica is a condition caused when there is additional pressure on the sciatica nerve. The nerve may become inflamed causing sharp, shooting pain, tingling or numbness, that starts in the back or buttocks to the back of the person’s legs. Some, but few, women experience this condition as a short-term side effect of pregnancy and will likely take place during the third trimester. To relieve sciatica, one can: - use a warm compress on the spot where the pain is felt - take breaks whenever possible - do some pelvic tilts (Stand straight with back to wall and relax spine. Inhale deeply and press the small of your back against wall. Exhale and repeat) together with kegels to strengthen the core muscles and help reduce inflammation - swimming may help take some pressure off For more information on sciatica during pregnancy, you can refer to this article: http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/sciatica/

I had experience that during my 3rd trismeter and it was horrible. The pain would randomly came and it hit hard. I had to stand really still and lean back on a wall/or someone to have a little support. At home, I got my ex-husband to press a warm compress to the spot and regularly massage it. It seems to help but the pain would still come although it wasn't as bad as before. http://www.spine-health.com/conditions/sciatica/what-you-need-know-about-sciatica
