Wean off pacifier

At what age and how did you wean off the pacifier for your LO? My girl is 8months old and she will cry for her pacifier at night when it drops off. Really keen to wean if off and foresee the crying part coming. *headache

I just wean my LO off at 7.5mo for the same reason. Thought he will not cry during the night anymore after weaning a week... but he still does, probably due to teething.
