Gender Disappointment - Wanted A Boy But Expecting A Girl
Went for an ultrascan at 17 weeks and the gynae says the baby is healthy and we may be expecting a girl. I'm more than a little disappointed because I've been dreaming of having a little boy and this is honestly not what I'm expecting. Having growing up with two nieces and two nephews since they were babies, I have an overwhelming preference for boys. And I just can't help feeling disappointed that I'm now carrying a girl. My husband thinks it's silly and I should be glad that the baby is healthy and well. But I'm trying hard to come to terms with it. Somehow still holding on to hope that the baby will turn out to be a boy at the next ultrascan or even at the delivery room. Has anyone experienced gender Disappointment? How did u handle it?
I always thought having a baby is a God's gift to me. My 1st is 16 yo and my 2nd is 7 months old. 2nd one was an unplanned pregnancy. But it's a God's gift I believed and I should receive it and love her dearly. Think about it, there are people out there wanting to get to pregnant so badly and the dissapointment that they are handling is so much devasting than you. If you view in this way, do you feel blessed? Most importantly baby is healthy and you are healthy too! I have a friend who wanted a boy and he has 3 girls. You know what, the 4th one is a girl too 😅 he is a Buddhist. He and myself also shared the same belief that having a baby and baby's gender is a gift from God. You just also control your emotions too cause it will affect the baby. Be positive and happy and I'm sure when u see her during after your delivery, you will fell in love with her. 🥰
Read moreGender doesn’t matter as long as baby is healthy. My friend was pressured into having a boy, and she was on tenderhooks throughout until she knows the gender. The family is overjoyed. All checks and scans done show no abnormally. After she gave birth, the boy had some rare disease and she has no help here. End up, she needs to quit her high paying job here to be a full time mummy, while going back to her hometown to seek treatment.

All I could think of is that there are other couples out there who are infertile and didn't get to experience Motherhood at all. So be blessed whether it is a boy or a girl.
Read moreHi mummy, when i was pregnant i had a vivid dream that it would be a boy. However when we went for the ultrascan at week20, we were told that i was expecting a girl. I was a little disappointed. After talking to hubby, we both agreed that doesnt matter if we are having a boy or a girl, as long baby is healthy, growing well and no issues. Fast forward 8 months later, our baby girl is the best gift & joy in our lives. :)

You can always have more kids for diversity in gender, interests, personalities etc. Do love your daughter as much as you would love your son, if not more. She is a gift! Many people struggle to even conceive.
Read moreIts fine, just try again next time and time the conception. My first is a boy which is my preference and defintely prefer a girl for my 2nd but when i had a miscarriage for my 2nd pregnancy, thats when gender doesnt matter as much as baby health. For my current pregnancy, baby health is important even if baby didnt turn out to be a girl.
Read moreI did experience disappointment before. But come to think of it, girl is better as they will bond closer to parents than boy. Actually whether you will have son or daughter is all destined. We should be glad to be able to conceive and have a health pregnancy as all children, regardless of gender, is god’s blessing to us.

Count your blessings that your baby is healthy :) when you get the health scare and worry, gender doesn’t matter anymore, what matters most is the health of your baby and safe and smooth pregnancy and delivery :) all the best and I hope you’ll enjoy your little miracle :)
Read moreI cried when I know I'm having a baby girl and so angry with myself. But the moment she is out, you know you are so blessed that she is crying & healthy. Believe me, as long the baby is healthy.. boy or girl really doesn't matter. Try again next time if you really wanted a boy. And I did try again, my 2nd one is boy 🤭
Read moreSame as Crystal, I wanted a girl but ended up having a boy. Girls are more empathetic and less noisy, imo. Also, have more options when buying clothes and can dress up, but doesn’t matter as long as baby’s healthy. U gotta accept that this is fate and in life, some things are not what u can choose.
