To spank or not to spank? My husband and I are very split on this topic. I grew up in a household where spanking was a regular occurrence, whereas my husband's family didn't do this at all. It's causing a lot of strain between us and I'm not sure what to do. On the one hand, I don't want to go against my husband's wishes. On the other hand, I am the main disciplinarian in the house, and I do feel that in the some cases, spankings help to teach children wrong from right. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

This is the million dollar question especially when it comes to disciplining your child(ren). As parents, our patience is often tested by our kids, especially when they behave inappropriately. 4 things to keep in mind before you raise your hand. 1. “What is the lesson my the child needs to learn?” 2. Spanking is viewed by children as a punishment for their act and so does not really discipline the child. 3. Spanking is a way by which parents get rid of their anger and frustration. 4. Spanking as a form of childhood discipline is linked to depression, alcohol abuse, anger control issues, and domestic violence later in adulthood

I was spanked as a child when I misbehaved, and I am still very close to my father. When I was caned as a child though, I remember "hating" him. Therefore, I would not follow this method as I prefer positive parenting and logical reasoning. Spanking the child causes physical pain and fear, which I would not recommend. http://sg.theasianparent.com/why-you-shouldnt-cane-your-child/

Its ohk to spank child sometimes. If you don't spank at all then he/she will lose complete discipline. Try convincing your husband that why its important to spank. Maybe few Youtube videos can help you better

thanks
