Some mummies can tahan with only laughing gas. Some mummies just scream for epidural. You can always opt for epidural when you are in the labour room. Bear in mind, it takes time for the the epidural administrator to come and prepare, plus the time for the actual epidural to work. For my case, my epidural only worked when I was 9cm dilated. Imagine my screaming.
