this is a common issue that most indian moms face, as almost everyone, except your baby's doc, will be unhappy or worried about your baby's weight! as per the weight indicators, at age 1, your baby should weigh 3 times the birth weight, which, in your baby's case, should have been 6 kg, and the fact that your baby is 8.5 kg means that the weight is good :) you can also check the same with your baby's doc and see whether the weight is as it should be. as for those worried souls, next time they have a problem, tell them the doc is happy with your baby's weight, and next time you'd love them to come along to ease their concerns ;)

great...then you know it already ;)

I think as long as your baby eats well and plays well, all in all is active, there is no need to give ears to what women or relatives say. You know how we women in Indian households are. I know I am generalising, but what to do, majority of women just spoil your peace of mind discussing the health of otherwise healthy child. ;p And if it bothers you, then get his height and weight checked whenever you go for his regular check ups.

Some kids are born skinny and remain so until a certain age. My sister's son was also skinny and the doctor had said that he will gain weight once he attains puberty and that's what has happened. If the child is eating well, is active, achieving all milestones on time then no need to worry. As for people, well who can stop them?
