There is no one rule that fits all. Some kids you need to reason out nicely with them no point being so strict, while some needs discipline to behave/tame. Also, being strict is very generalise and depends on individual, rules may seem strict to some kids/parents while others might think too lenient.

Some times it creates difference between parent and a child . Because of fear they can’t share anything.if they did major mistake that is ok but we should rectify their mistake with love
You don’t always have to be strict with kids to help them understand the value of discipline. Compassion and a calm demeanour can work the same as well.
Some parents are so strict kids turn out bad. Not strict kids turn out bad too. The bottom line there is no manual for parenting.
it really depends. Being overly strict will result in a bounce back rebellious kid. so i believe there shld be a balance
One cannot always be strict with their children. You need to be friendly loving, caring and if needed at times strict.
