Using ricewine during 1st trimester

Hi is it safe to consume rice wine or cooking wine during pregnancy? Some of the recipes I see here contain rice wine

rice wine Pros : food is delicious, maybe nutritious Cons : alcohol gets to fetus, can result in mental retardation My take: why take the risk at all when there r so many safe food out there to choose?
