How to transition baby to eat more solid food without the fear of choking?

Hi parents, first time mum here. my baby boy is 1 year old and still prefers mushy blended food.. When ever we give a bit chunkier pieces, he gags alot even with rice grains . I'm so so so afraid of choking and I just don't have the courage to give chunkier food cz im so worried. I start to panic, sweat when he gags alot. Did anyone go through this and how did u build your confidence for this transition and to feed with peace of mind ? Any tips? Thanks.

Gagging is a normal reflex, they are learning. It’s normal, don’t panic, they will usually spit out the food after gagging unless you observed that it’s stuck in it and can’t come out. Definitely don’t use your fingers to dig out his food when he gags. You can try offering steamed carrots/brocolli~
