for public hospitals at subsidised costs, you don't get to choose your gynae so you will see different ones each time. it depends on how comfortable you are with this. I have friends who went NUH public & subsidised (she ok with any gynae), NUH private (prefer same gynae) and KKH private (prefer same gynae). age is certainly a factor to consider, in addition to your comfort level/preferences and convenience to travelling to the clinic. for me I just decide on the hospital that i wanted to deliver at (just pick nearest to my home) then narrowed down the gynae search from there.

just go to poly and ask for a referral . I prefer NUH.. bcoz of the treatments There... KKH is kinda careless with the procedure sometimes.. but people always go there for a cheap cost.. I'd rather be safe than sorry. (saying from experience) NUH subsidiary or private is both okay. just that private sometimes needs to wait for doctor availability. if subsidiary will keep changing doctors..but all seems professional too.. waiting time about the same anyways.. I just gave birth a year ago tho.🤣

I thought it was quite ok for costs to switch halfway from subsidized KKH to private. Loved Dr Ada Ng as she was super calm even when my baby wasnt breathing and apparently i was on high risk of emergency Csect lol. Cant deny KKH needs to be better with care and service but its still a 50/50 experience from other mothers.

I am with Dr James Lee from Astra. I find him approachable and candid. But I must say that maybe we get along well because our personalities match. If you are of a mature maternity age, which I am, I strongly suggest that you go private because the extra care and shorter wait are necessary.

I got Dr Tho from Astra from the start till around 20months, then I switched to NUH but still under private. Generally if you're looking at cost then public hospitals are a better option. At public hospitals you still have the option to go under private or subsidised.
