My little one will be 5 months soon, so I was wondering what toy is worth investing in. So far his only toy is a teether - sopie giraffe. Will like to expand his "toy collection" soon. Please suggest.

Growing Baby™ Animal Activity Panel Touch and try. Invite your baby to explore all the features of a toy by going through them together, helping him feel the different textures and activate the sounds and movements. All of this sensory stimulation prepares a memory bank of experiences that will continue to grow. Playtime, anytime. Let baby enjoy activity toys with lots of colors and actions that tempt her to reach out and touch. This will enhance eye-hand coordination along with thinking skills.

At 5 months old, they are beginning to have a sense of self, so toys with (infant safe unbreakable) mirrors are a good choice. Toys with textures which make different sounds are recommended as well. Have you heard of Lamaze/Sassy toys? Their toys are meant for infants and brightly coloured with different textures and sounds to entertain your baby. http://www.fisher-price.com/en_US/playtime-guide/5-months/index.html

I recently got this for my friend's baby. Lamaze Musical Inchworm It's colourful, has music (when you squeeze the head), different textures, sounds, and it also has measurement at the bottom to measure your baby's height. Very cute and interesting toy. My friend said that her baby loves it. http://www.toddle.sg/musical-inchworm?

I got "grippy" toys at around that age for my son that he could chew on, and yet would encourage him to hold and clutch on, promoting hand dexterity. http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Toy-Sensory-Teether-Activity/dp/B000BNCA4K Toys with music also worked well for my son.

Blocks and balls are great! My daughter also liked playing with bubbles at this age. You can also play peek-a-boo with blankets!
