I agree with Jamie. Best if for you spouse to step in and talk to his mother as he would know better how to handle his mother. It would be easier this way since your husband shares the same viewpoint as you do. And you'd have to do the same and not let your child participate in yours too to be fair.
Wendy, did you and your husband discuss what religion your kid will be raised with? I'm assuming you made that decision together and that there are clear boundaries and guidelines on how you deal with religion. If it were me, I would let my husband communicate your decision with his mother.
