My daughter is turning 6 months old soon. Can I have her ears pierced already? Or should I wait until she's older?

It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to perform ear piercing on kids only when they are big enough to take care of the piercing themselves. http://www.babycenter.com/0_piercing-your-babys-ears_10341560.bc I personally think that it's best to not perform ear piercing at 6 months old. This is because baby tends to scratch their ear during teething stage and hence baby will be more prone to infection if she has ear piercing at this time. I will think it will be safer to wait till your kid is older when she is able to listen to instruction such as do not take out the ear studs and do not scratch the ears after piercing.
