1st trim maternal serum screen
Hi mummies, Has anyone did this test before? I just did mine today and the results is only in hardcopy.. does it mean something bad or its normal for doc to explain in person regardless of good and bad result?

Oh, don't worry too much, getting results only in hardcopy and having to wait for the doctor to explain is actually pretty standard practice here in Singapore, regardless of whether the result is good or concerning. The clinic typically wants the doctor to walk you through the numbers in context, because the screening gives a risk ratio (like 1 in 500 or 1 in 100) rather than a simple yes/no, and that really does need proper explanation alongside your NT scan measurements. My friend went through this at KKH and said her doctor explained everything together, the blood markers, the nuchal translucency reading, and the combined risk score, so having that face-to-face chat actually made things much clearer than just reading a number on paper. That said, if the risk comes back higher, your doctor will usually discuss next steps like NIPT or amniocentesis, so it's good to go in with an open mind either way. Do still check with your own doctor or specialist if you have specific concerns, as they'll be best placed to interpret your individual result.
