Best to discuss with your gynae on your preferences. I've seen mummy who opt for sedation with epi during c-sect as they are too afraid to be awake and feel nothing. Some regretted this decision as they felt they didn't get to witness the skin to skin during c-sect. Some was given sedation as they have other medical procedure to perform during c-sect. Ultimately choose what's comfortable for you since delivery is a personal journey and no other opinions should affects your decisions.
If you're referring to total anaesthesia, it will only apply to C-section birth. It's not recommended as local anaesthesia is the safer way and you can immediately hold baby afterwards. If you're totally knocked out you will only wake up after a few hours. And the pain afterwards is the same
Not advisable for sedation. Personally I think epidural is fine
