I got a baby food maker from einmilk, steams and blends.
My baby just started solids this week and I have tried: oatmeal, sweet potato, carrots, prunes, broccoli and avocado :) we freshly made these into purées each day
I bought 2 Gerber readymade jars just in case I was too overwhelmed and came in handy (prunes) because I had to go in to work on second day of solids and husband had to deal with the meal himself.
He is fully capable of preparing fresh food if we really wanted to, but we both decided that we didn't want to put additional stress on him since we have just started solids and are also learning! :)
