Insurance asking for IC?

Hello mummies, I’m very inexperienced with regards to insurance matters but my ‘husband’ is buying insurance for himself, he asked for my IC and my daughter’s birth cert, saying it’s for ‘background’ check does anyone know if u need a picture of your family ic for ‘background’ check?
