Low pain tolerance
Hey mummies! I have something weird/funny/may be stupid question to ask.. I actually have very low tolerance with needles. I hate injections. Esp drips! I know every mum in labour will be poke with the drip. I had that before and I cried till my mask got dirty and wet with my tears! Can’t handle that pain.. so is it a must to be poke on my hand?😭😭 please help
Yes, definitely a must! You will be poked in the delivery suite too and the IV plug will stay on your hand or arm (depends where they can find a suitable vein) until you got discharged home. Look away when they're about to insert the needle and talk to your spouse, make your mind busy so you will not feel the pain. Works for me everytime! Furthermore, my veins are very hard to find. Most times I will be poked 2-3 times (by the inexperience ones) before finding the right vein.
Read moreI got c-section and poked on my left hand for the iv drip and also poked 4x on my back for the spinal anaesthesia. When I’m back to my ward I got another injection to prevent thrombosis. Not sure if you would go for normal or csect, personally I think csect is not so bad for people with low pain tolerance like me, although I was hoping to go with normal delivery.
Read morei hate needles, but no matter what you still need to get poked on your hand.If regarding epidural, you already withstand the pain of contraction,so getting an epidural is already nothing for you.All i want was the contraction to stop,so getting an epidural myself knowing that i hate needles is nothing but ticklish
Read moreHi. I know this was posted months back but Just thought I’d share my experience- i gave birth without having any drips on me or being poked. My water broke at home, went straight to hospital where i was sent to delivery suite, less than 15 minutes, i was told to push and delivered my baby. So its possible:)
Read moreYup! The IV fluid is needed to keep you hydrated. I am very afraid of needles and blood. Request for a thin needle. I got injected twice (one on each hand) cause the first one didn’t enter my vein, causing it to bleed. Just look away when the nurse is doing it and squeeze your spouse’s hand.
I'm only half way through pregnancy currently. My dreaded moment was the OGTT done recently. Blood drawn thrice in 1 hr gap. I was so scared that even my blood pressure went high drastically 😆
Unfortunately it's a must to be poked and be prepared that you'll be injected for a few times. Have to bear with it for the safety of you and baby. stay strong mummy!
Yes its definitely a must . You will forget all the pain when you gonna see your baby . Take care !
