I'm on aspirin 150mg ON from 10 weeks onward. Prior to that I also had bleeding twice when I'm at 6 week and 10 week. Nil side effect so far after I was started on aspirin and I'm now at my 22weeks :) I was obese with BMI >35, thus I was started on it to prevent preeclampsia, while my another friend who was on aspirin as well is because she was found to have narrowed blood vessels in her placenta during her first trimester scan. The bleeding risk will outgo the risk of preeclampsia itself... Doctor had advice me to continue aspirin until 36weeks of my pregnancy. Long term aspirin may cause gastric discomfort for some people, thus make sure you ate something before taking aspirin. Also, aspirin will have better absorption through sublingual. However, I got mouth ulcer after that. So now I just chew it then swallow... the orangy flavour is toleratable.... :) Hope that helps...

I’m on 1 tablet (100mg) every night. I had pre-eclampsia post-delivery for my firstborn. I also kept having high BP whenever I go for my appts at KKH. My BP is normal though when I monitor at home daily. Maybe just the nerves. I’m now 26 weeks. I am obese too, 100kg standing at 160cm. I still weigh the same when I was pregnant with my firstborn at 26 weeks so have not put on extra weight yet. Listen to your doc’s advices. Ask why you need to take 1 1/2 tablets, what are the risks if you don’t take it, or if you missed it. Do have well-balanced meal daily also. Don’t compare with other pregnancies as each and every one of us are different. I’ve missed my aspirin few times but I take it immediately the next morning. It works best at night, so do set an alarm for it.

I'm obese too and have not put on any weight at 16 weeks because I cut out sugary drinks and have low appetit with nausea. Glad to hear your baby is growing well, I pray mine will too! Take care mummy ❤

Aspirin is given to mummies who have risk of high blood pressure and preeclampsia. I have been on aspirin when I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. No side effects. I am now 11 weeks. I am on 1 tablet, 100mg every night.

I’m normal weight and also on aspirin 1.5tablets at night (it’s a pain to cut the aspirin pill in half!) it is to prevent preeclampsia so I just follow gynae’s order.

Hi mummy. I am obese and have borderline blood pressure for each appointment so doctor prescribed it for me at 12 weeks. 1 tab every night.

why do you have to start on aspirin?
