Prodomal Labour

Hi mummies ! Currently going through prodomal labour/early labour since 34 weeks 4 days , went to triage because my tummy was so tight & what i thought was braxton hicks turned out to be contractions hahah. started in the afternoon & finally went to the hosp at night bcuz i couldnt take it anym & turns out i was already 3cm dilated . contractions went to 10mins apart then 5 mins apart & it all stopped in the wee hours of the morning. was discharged aft a day at observation ward & now i feel the contractions every few hours , sometimes it gets consistent again then disappears. Just wanted to know if anybody else went through this & how long later did you actually go into labour

Aiyo girl, hang in there, my friend also went through this around 35 weeks and she told me it was honestly the most confusing and exhausting thing because every time the contractions picked up she thought "this is it!" then it just... fizzled out lah. Someone in my mum WhatsApp group mentioned her prodromal labour dragged on for almost two weeks before actual labour kicked in properly, so there's really no fixed timeline, some mummies it's a few days, some it's longer, shiong I know. The honest truth is, a few of them said by the time real labour came, it actually progressed quite fast, like my neighbour's sister was already so "warmed up" that she went from consistent contractions to delivered in maybe 6-7 hours, so at least got that silver lining! But I won't sugarcoat, the waiting and not knowing really wears you down mentally and physically, so please rest as much as you can between contractions and don't try to hero through it alone. Definitely still worth checking in with your gynae or the triage team again if the contractions get more regular or you feel anything unusual, especially since you're still a bit early, better let them monitor closely!
