Do we need to engage a paediatrician upon giving birth?

My mum asked me if I engaged a PD. Said when she gave birth to me, her gynae asked where the PD was. Is there this need? #1stimemom

Yes of course. Baby will be passed onto PD immediately upon delivery to do a thorough check before clean up.
