Colustrum in week 29 of pregnancy

Hi mommies, I'm starting to have leakage on week 29. Am I suppose to start pumping or leave the colustrum as it is?

Hey mummy. Happy that you’re producing colostrum already 😉 For me, i diligently collected it and store in my freezer 1 week before delivery..but when baby arrived nothing was used because I was able to breastfeed my baby and baby latched on immediately. The nurses who took care of me explained that colostrum is only needed when mummy is not able to produce milk/cannot suckle well/mummy not with baby etc. So as long as you get to see your baby, i believe they will encourage you to breastfeed immediately. However, this is Mt E. I’m not sure how other hospital work, good to check with your gynae. :)

Hi Mummy! You can hand express your colostrum and freeze it in milk bags or syringes and keep it in ziplocks for your baby first feed. Colostrum is very nutritious and helps to build your baby’s immune system.
