My lo is 4 months old and he's having hiccups twice everyday. Should I be concern and bring him to the PD?
Hiccups in newborns could be cause by the same few reasons as an adult, such as eating too much, swallowing air while chewing, being anxious or excited. An infant may swallow some air while nursing and that may give raise to hiccups. Hence, it is important to burp the baby after each feeding to get ride of any air in the stomach. In general, hiccups in newborns and babies are common. However, if your baby’s hiccups continue for hours, you should seek advice from your doctor. Some conditions like gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) or a tumor or cyst in the throat may present symptoms like hong-term hiccups. Hiccups usually will go off on its own. You can try soothing your baby by rocking or providing a gentle back rub. Just take note if it is taking unusually long for the hiccup to go away and give your doctor a call if required. Hope this helps!
Read moreMy lo hiccups since newborn till now 5mo still hiccuping and its before and after every feed and last quite long! Happened to visit pd for sickness and asked pd..she said not a concern...its due to the stomach and abdomen too small when they are compressed..the air got stuck causing the hiccups
Hiccuping is normal, don't forget babies hiccups in our womb too. Unless the hiccups prolong for a few hours then proceed to see a pd. Mine is 21 days old and also hiccup twice a day, I just latch her and after awhile she stops hiccuping.

Hiccups and bringing to PD? Don't need lah. Don't be over concern. This is usually due to having excess air taken in during feeding. Just ensure that you burp the baby after each feed to minimize it.
Don't need to be too concern over the hiccups. Usually it is due to air being taken in during breastfeeding or bottle feed. As we usually burp the baby after each feeding, so it should be ok.
