Is it ideal to buy baby stuff on the first trimester of pregnancy?

I bought my baby stuff towards the end of my 2nd trismeter because I somehow felt more energetic plus I had an obvious bump by then so people are generally aware and wouldn't push me around during babyfairs lol. I wouldn't recommend buying too many clothes though as Jamie said, you'll probably get hand me downs from family and friends ^^ I personally love the quarterly babyfairs held at Singapore Expo. The next one would be in April.
