Probiotics aids in easing digestive issues such as bloating, gas, constipation, colic and reflux. They could also help boost the immune system. Our digestive tract makes up 70% of our immune system. The main strains in our bodies are Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium. They act to prevent malabsorption and gut permeability then in turn increase immune function. Choose a brand that is meant for babies. You can consider ChildLife, available at iHerb: http://sg.iherb.com/ChildLife-Probiotics-with-Colostrum-Powder-Natural-Orange-Pineapple-Flavor-1-7-oz-50-g/10630 $25.14 for a 50g bottle (powdered form) Follow the recommended dosage for each age group (1/4 teaspoon daily for babies 6 months to 1 year old).

I read that fermented foods and drinks are great ways to introduce probiotics to babies naturally. Apparently, Russians give their babies milk kefir diluted with water when they are as young as 4 months old. You can start introducing baby to the sour taste of fermented foods by putting a little cultured vegetable juice on your finger and letting them suck on it. Cultured vegetables contain "Lactobacillus plantarum", a strain of friendly bacteria that is great in the treatment of colic, as well as crucial to the development of a healthy gut. http://bodyecology.com/articles/introduce_babies_probiotics.php
