In general, bananas are ideal, not only for babies who are starting on their solid food diet, but also for babies beyond six months. It is high in potassium content, which is useful in helping baby develop their muscles and aids in helping regulate blood chemistry. Bananas in its raw form are okay for baby to eat 6 months and above, usually mashed to a smooth consistency. I reckon boiled bananas are okay, my late grandmother used to feed us those as a snack when we were younger as well as steamed, fried and pureed ones. Personally, for babies -- a ripe raw mashed up banana is the best because it retains all its nutrients that might be lost through cooking.
Definitely! Like what the rest have mentioned, it is nutritious and a great food to introduce to your child. Another good thing about it is that you can even choose not to cook it. Simply mashing it up would make a good meal for your child. Here are some simple recipes you can consider: http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/bananababyfoodrecipes.htm
