Please DO NOT mix BLW with spoon feeding. It causes more hazard and risk of choking higher. Because your baby is used to being fed purée = swallowing / gulping down. But when you switch it to solid food like chunks, they won’t be able to differentiate and they will swallow it as it is without trying to bite / nibble. Please do not jump into BLW just like that without reading more information about it.
Don’t worry, actually:) at this age, he can have his meals while being spoonfed, and then you can give him snacks (puffs, yoghurt melts, baby biscuits, etc) to encourage him to pick them up and feed himself. Even if that is just on weekends. You can also let your helper give him these baby friendly snacks once a day on weekdays to encourage picking up self feeding skills:) Not too late to learn at all!
Hi there! Don’t worry. I spoonfeed my baby too! But i make it a point to let him touch and play with the heinz teeth rusk biscuit. Yesterday he finally know how to hold it and bring it to his mouth. Try doing this repeatedly ok. I strongly believe babies are creatures of habit. If they are exposed to the same item / activity everyday, they will get used to it over time! U can do this! :)
I spoon fed my bb for all his meals.. only during snack time do I allow him to explore and self feed :) it will take time. Pls be patient and provide the platform for him/her opportunities to practice using his hands
Have you tried Rafferty's Garden food pouches? Another way for your child to learn to feed himself. Its readily available at FairPrice https://www.facebook.com/RaffertysGardenSG/
I spoon feed my baby all the time except snack baby 10 month old now. She know how to take food on her hand and eat. You can try giving their favourite food to let them learn.
Np :)
probably cannot, but eventually he will learn, especially after he goes to preschool. my girl also like that, spoon feed at home but at school she will eat by herself
yes, at first maybe still spoon feed by the teacher, but later they will learn especially if they see the other friends can
No, he’ll expect to be fed. You need to just pass him the food and spoon and guide him to learn how to scoop the food.
Definitely yes. Most kids would start to be interested in holding the spoon or fork themselves eventually.
