Avoid or reduce for GDM?

I’m diagnose gestational diabetes cause by only starchy food. I need to stop eating or just cut down? I avoided all starchy food but it seems like don’t have any food to eat as those healthy food (eg. Brown rice, wholegrain bread, salad etc) i don’t like 😅

I think it’s a mixture of both? If you eat alot of healthier starchy food eg alot of brown rice, your sugar will also spike up. If you really cannot take brown rice or wholemeal bread, then just cut down the portion of white rice or white bread. For me, the first 2 weeks after being diagnosed with gdm, i was pretty much pricking after every meal so that I can test what food and what portion works for me. After a while you’ll know what your body is most sensitive to :) Also, my gynae emphasises on the method of cooking instead of the food itself too eg if its was deep fried vs stirfry or steamed. True enough, a portion of fish and chips (without the fries and coleslaw even) shoots my sugar level higher than home cooked bowl of pasta. For bread I take the low GI bread, cos no matter what I really love my carbs hahaha. I got used to it after a while. Perhaps you can start to trial and error and see what works best for your body and baby? :) Jiayou! 💪🏻

It’s really a sacrifice you have to make to avoid any complications that may be caused by GD. You could start by reducing and move towards replacing them with healthier options.
