Feeling tired all day long

Hi I’m at 16 weeks but been feeling so tired that I sleep almost all day. It’s been like this since I started. I thought 2nd trimester should be better. Would appreciate any help or advice thanks . #Needadvice #firsttimemom

How I wish I could sleep the whole day too but I have to drag myself to work everyday. 🫠 What a luxury you have to be able to sleep almost all day. 😂 I'm a preschool teacher and my nature of work requires me to move around and I'm never stationary for more than 10 to 15 minutes. My advice is to find a hobby, go for a walk, or a part-time job that involves some light movement. Admin or office based jobs might be mundane and you may feel even more tired. I guess being forced to move around at my work allows me to stay active in a way and power through the tiredness. I fall asleep around 9pm and wake up at 6am for work, so I get a full 8 hours of sleep.

Fatigue in pregnancy is really normal, especially in the first trimester, but if you're sleeping all day at 16 weeks it's worth checking in with your doctor or at the polyclinic just to rule out things like anemia or low iron levels, which are quite common in pregnancy. The second trimester energy boost doesn't always kick in for everyone at the same time, and sometimes it takes a bit longer. In the meantime, be kind to yourself and rest when you need to, but do get that checked out soon so you know what's going on.
