Gestational Diabetic

Im a 15 week pregnant and done my glucose test... and found out it was high and needed to start insulin soon.. is 9.1 reading is extremely high or still i got 2nd option on maybe control diet method? Is it safe for me to start insulin when baby is still young?? i started to get stress and cry.. kindly advise me please...
