I used Crayola washable paint to take prints of my baby's hands and feet when she was 17 days old. I used Crayola Washable Paint because they are non-toxic. You can also use food paint if you're really worried, or make your own paint from food colouring. Colours wise, I like bright, cheery colours for my baby. I used sky blue for her handprints and light green for her feet. https://carousell.com/p/35164861

At that age kids tend to put everything in their mouth. So i would recommend making your own edible non toxic paint and using that. You can find recipes here: http://www.learnplayimagine.com/2013/03/homemade-paint-recipes-safe-for-babies.html This way you don't compromise on the colour or the safety of your child.

any non-toxic paint will do :) I suggest using pastel and neutral colors to give it a more DIY earthy feel

You could try non-toxic paints at Toys R Us or Kiddy Palace!
