You can talk to your daughter like any other normal topic, don't be embarrassed. You can visit a very good website, Menstrupedia, which will give her a good insight about periods. Its a normal process and she should be comfortable to confide in you. All the best.

Hi. I have done the same thing before as a father. Your daughter is too young to have any preconceptins. She just wants someone to confide in. And if you do that comfortably from day 1 it will make no difference to her whether you are her father or mother. But what I found useful was to read up on the subject first so you have real knowledge.
